Post Hospital Care

To return to your own home after a stay in hospital is everyone’s goal. We can provide all the backup support you may need to help you stay safe at home and assess your future needs.

What You Can Expect in Post-Hospital NDIS

We now look at the services you can expect from our staff at Grace Home and Community Care as part of post-hospital care:

Safety Supervision

Safety supervision is necessary for people that have just been discharged from a hospital. There is always an accident around the corner for a senior citizen. An attendant looking after your senior citizen ensures that safety is provided at all times and that safety protocols aren’t neglected.

A caretaker can do numerous things to reduce the threat of senior citizens suffering from an injury due to slipping or safety issues. While senior citizens are already weak in exerting pressure on their feet while walking, they can suffer from the risk of slippage because of the clutter around them. All the used wrappers from tablets and other slipper equipment lying around the house can lead to tripping and numerous other hazards. The weakness of a hospital stay can also lead to slippage.

Our team will address these issues and clear away any slippage chances before they can actualize into a major injury. It is believed that almost 40 percent of senior citizens are admitted to the hospital because they suffer an injury because of slipping during their routine.

Bathing and Personal Hygiene

Just like many other things, you need to take extreme care of a senior citizen’s bathing and personal hygiene. When you get NDIS services, you can rest assured knowing that the personal attendant will look after their hygiene. Senior citizens are very particular when it comes to their personal hygiene.

They want to be taken care of without any flaws whatsoever. While they might show some resistance to being taken to the shower by a stranger serving them, they will eventually come to terms with the idea. To make sure that they accept the change in the best manner possible, you should make a bathing schedule for them, which you and they both follow with religiosity. You should ensure that the senior citizen you are looking after is well taken care of.

Assistance with Movement

Senior citizens find it hard to move, but that shouldn’t mean that you keep them confined to their beds. You need to make sure that limited movement from bed to chair, lavatory, and other important places is happening. Keeping them confined to the bed is not a good practice as it can damage their body and lead to multiple repercussions.

You should make sure that you hire a caretaker that can assist your senior citizen with mobility. Mobility is an important part of a senior’s life. They need to have a caretaker look after their movement. Handling a frail senior is also something that cannot be done without the right practice. You and I cannot help a senior citizen move from one place to the other because we don’t have relevant experience. Someone with the relevant experience will know how to move them around without a hassle!

Housekeeping

It is when senior citizens are confined to the bed that they resort to being fidgety with the environment around them. A caretaker would make sure that the room a senior citizen is in is kept clean at all times and there isn’t a mess lying around that can perturb them.
